SOCIAL INCLUSION AND PENSIONS

The field of Social inclusion and pensions contributes to the knowledge of the economic situation and social inclusion (of sub-groups) of the population and the impact of social, family, tax and pension legislation on it, which is the basis for addressing challenges, such as poverty and social exclusion, minimum cost of living, the economic situation of families, the reconciliation of work and family life, support for the unemployed, pension systems and pensions, and the economic situation of older people. We carry out basic and applied research on issues of national, European and global importance, and selected recent notable achievements include:

  • estimates of the minimum cost of living (based on an established in-house methodology);
  • participating in a test of a methodology for reference family budgets;
  • preparation of expert evidence for political decision-making in Slovenia in the field of social welfare and family policy;
  • contributing to the preparation of the expert basis for the active and healthy ageing strategy in Slovenia;
  • development and practical use of modeling tools (generational accounts model and dynamic microsimulation pension model) for the preparation of the Pension Report (AWG Group at the EC) and expenditure projections within the annual Stability Program;
  • preparing expert evidence and impact assessments on individual measures or pension system reforms;
  • participation in the MIGAPE project, an assessment of the future gender pension gap;
  • participation from 2014 to 2022 in the European Social Policy Network (ESPN), and from 2022 onwards in the Expert Network for Analytical Support in Social Policies (ENASSP), which produces independent reports for the European Commission as a basis for policy and action;
  • participation in the "Child Guarantee" project, which was the basis for the guarantee for vulnerable children and ongoing concrete policy measures in the EU;
  • participation (since 2005) in the international Leave Policy and Research Network,
  • participation in the Standard of Living and Social Protection Statistics Advisory Committee;
