Research in the field of regional/structural development includes basic and applied research, in which we discuss theoretical issues of differences in development, use quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze development differences in Slovenia and the EU, analyze the connection between structural reforms and development policies, and propose measures to promote a more coherent development of Slovenia (on national and regional level), we participate in the preparation of programming documents for absorption of European Cohesion Policy funds and Rural Development Programmes, as well as their monitoring and evaluation.

Our main activities are

• Contributing to the preparation of programming documents for the absorption of European Cohesion Policy funds in the 2004-2006, 2007-2013 and 2014-2020 periods.
• Evaluation of the European Cohesion Policy operational and Rural Development Programmes 2004-2006, 2007-2013 and 2014-2020.
• Expert basis for the preparation of legislation in the field of coherent regional development.
• Preparation of the strategic reference framework for Slovenian regional policy.
• Proposal to integrate development and spatial planning at regional level.
• Cooperation in the preparation of provincial legislation.
• Preparation of the Development Incentives Program for border problem areas in the period 2022-2025.
• Participation in transnational and cross-border European Territorial Cooperation (Interreg) projects.
