In the context of competitiveness and development, defined by the intensive internationalisation of the economy, innovation in all phases of production and the rapid development of new technologies, we examine current situation and measures to improve the competitiveness and innovativeness of the Slovenian economy, carry out simulations of measures and analyse the impact of current economic policies, using analytical tools and databases we have developed.

Our main activities include:

• annual monitoring and analysis of Slovenia's competitive position in the world, elaboration of recommendations to improve competitiveness and informing the professional and general public about the topic,
• monitoring economic trends in Slovenia and comparison with developments in other, especially European market economies,
• analysis of the impact of the changed situation faced by enterprises as a result of the pandemic and the state's restrictive measures, based on online surveys,
• analysis of the impact of globalisation and technological change on manufacturing employment, using a comprehensive set of industry-level data for EU Member States,
• analysis of the ownership structure of enterprises and their involvement in international trade based on data on Slovenian companies,
• analysis of the effectiveness of demand-side and supply-side fiscal policies in a small open economy with an econometric model of the Slovenian economy,
• analysis of the size and impact of the financial accelerator on the Slovenian economy and the fiscal policy response to changes in the financial markets,
• publication of scientific research papers in leading international journals, such as Economic Modelling, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Empirica, International Review of Economics & Finance, European Journal of Law and Economics, Applied Economics, Engineering Economics, Economic Systems ter International Journal of Computational Economics and Econometrics.
