INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM

The infrastructure program is primarily focused on providing IT infrastructure to members of the research program group and other researchers of the institute, as well as to external users. SHARE international infrastructure program, included in the Slovenian Research Infrastructure Development Plan, is also a part of our research infrastructure. The data from SHARE has already been used to prepare the expert basis for structural reforms in the field of pensions, long-term care and healthcare.

SHARE research infrastructure

SHARE, the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), is an interdisciplinary international panel database of microdata on the health, socio-economic status, social and family networks of approximately 140,000 individuals aged 50 years and over (approximately 380,000 interviews have been conducted). SHARE covers 27 European countries and Israel. The key objective of the survey is to establish an infrastructure, i.e. a database, which allows researchers to investigate the processes of population ageing free of charge and thus enable public policy planners to design appropriate policies and reforms supported by data. Slovenia joined the survey in 2009, when preparations for the implementation of the 4th wave of the survey started. More information on the Slovenian part of the international survey can be found at SHARE Slovenija .
