On Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11, 2026, Dr. Damjan Kavaš, the director of the IER, attended the 2026 Municipal Development Days in Laško, which were held under the theme 'We Build the Future Locally'. Discussions focused on cooperation between the state and municipalities in planning the new financial perspective for 2028–2034, the role of municipalities in economic and regional development, successful local development projects, citizen engagement, and building the resilience of local communities. On the first day, Dr Kavaš participated in a roundtable discussion titled 'Discussion on the Programming of the New Financial Perspective for 2028–2034'. The following day, he delivered a lecture entitled 'Why Do Companies Choose a Particular Location? Best Practices and Development Challenges for Municipalities and the State'.
