On October 21, 2025, the Crystal Palace in Ljubljana hosted the Change Makers – Leadership in Times of Change conference, organized by Beyond Leadership SloveniaThis was the first conference in Slovenia dedicated to competitiveness and leadership in times of change. The conference brought together leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs with a common idea of how to lead and succeed in times of change. Top speakers, representatives of professional associations, business associations, and companies presented their stories of entrepreneurial courage, innovation, and change, and talked about what Slovenia needs to break into the top 20 most competitive countries in the world. At the event, Damjan Kavaš, Director of IER, and Sonja Uršič, IER researcher, highlighted Slovenia's competitiveness results based on the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking survey, which is prepared by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne in collaboration with partner organizations—in Slovenia, these are the Institute of Economic Research and the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana.
