IMPROVE project consortium meeting and stakeholder workshop in Ljubljana

On 22 and 23 January, the Institute for Economic Research hosted a two-day consortium meeting of the IMPROVE project. The meeting was opened by the Minister of Health, Dr Valentina Prevolnik Rupel. The project focuses on promoting the implementation of Value-Based Health Care (VBHC), which puts the patient at the centre of care and enables the best health outcomes to be achieved with an efficient use of resources. The project seeks solutions to key challenges such as developing standardised systems for measuring patient outcomes, improving data quality and optimising cost-effective care pathways. A particular focus will be on integrating patient-reported outcomes with clinical reports into clinical practice and finding ways to move from pay-for-performance to pay-for-outcome models.

As stakeholder engagement is an extremely important part of the overall VBHC implementation process, a stakeholder workshop was organised to bring together key stakeholders from healthcare, research and industry to identify and explore solutions for VBHC implementation. The workshop focused on two key challenges: how to ensure patient involvement in data collection and how to motivate healthcare professionals to collect data.
